About Fermentable Sugar

Fermentable Sugar is a full-service agency.

An agency of one, that is.

Chief Idea Guy Josh Mishell has nearly 15 years of design & marketing experience in a wide variety of industries across both print and web. His diverse skill-set allows Fermentable Sugar to be a full-service agency that looks at the big picture before diving into the minutiae elements of design & marketing.

While he is only one person, Fermentable Sugar has a trusted stable of competent and professional subcontractors at various pricing points. This allows us to offer a wider range of services and make client deadlines.

Before starting Fermentable Sugar, Josh Mishell has gained significant valuable experience at:

Flying Dog Brewery

As the Creative Manager from 2006-2010, Josh was responsible for all visual elements of the brand including a full packaging revamp (bottle labels, six-pack carriers, case cartons), all point-of-sale design for distributors, a full website redesign.

As Flying Dog had a small marketing department (between 2-6 employees at any given time), Josh also was responsible for creating social marketing content, developing full promotional campaigns, website copywriting, newsletter copywriting (distributed to 20,000 email addresses every two weeks), and more.

Tinaglia Advertising

As the Creative Director from 2004-2006, Josh was responsible for all creative elements at this small agency with big clients. Work included art direction for the United States Tennis Association on the official poster for the US Open tennis tournament, as well as for U.S. Davis Cup & U.S. Fed Cup team posters. Josh also worked on creative for PGA, LPGA & Nationwide tour golf tournaments including the Samsung World Championship (the LPGA’s unofficial 5th major tournament), the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, and more.

Vail Daily

As an Ad & Special Section Designer from 2002-2004, Josh worked on an in-house team creating advertising for The Vail Daily, a daily newspaper in Vail, Colorado. Working on very tight deadlines allowed Josh to gain an appreciation for what a tight deadline means. 9 years after leaving the Vail Daily, you can still see some of the same ads that Josh created.

He also skied and fly fished a lot.

Imperial Headwear

Josh likes to wear hats. His first job out of college from 2001-2002 was designing embroidery patterns for Imperial Headwear. He developed hat designs that would be embroidered for clients such as LL Bean, as well as the US Senior Open Golf Tournament.
